Why did I purposely paint this on a small canvas so when it’s displayed on a wall somewhere, it will look small and insignificant?
Let’s see if I can explain myself properly here ….
When someone walks by this painting, I want them to question every aspect of it. The fact that its small will invoke questions.
I’m hoping it’ll invoke the right questions, such as: Who is she? What is her story? Where is she? Does she have family? …. I think if we ask ourselves these questions about anyone we see, it helps to feel some sort of connection. That “connection” allows us to “see” people.
Everyone has a story to tell….
