Here are the 25 historical oil paintings…

Nov 30th 2024 – Metis Treaty

JD Hawk’s involvement included the following twenty-five historic oil paintings, which were on display along side many
Metis artifacts, including Metis Leader
Louis Riel’s slippers and sash.

PS…and this happened too. JD was shocked and filled with emotional tears of joy that his community & Canada continues to recognize his contributions. “I do this for my family and for my nation. It’s a blessing and honour that God has given me a gift to share with others.”  Video – Start to watch at the 2hrs, 16min, 18sec stamp mark.

President David Chartrand has served as the democratically elected President of the Manitoba Métis Federation since 1997.

Behind the scenes of his public life, he has
remained focused, fighting, and unwavering in
protecting & serving the
Red River Metis.

President D. Chartrand)

Minister Will Goodon

It was only a moment or two before the Red River Métis Treaty was ratified in the biggest gathering in centuries.

I was waiting to see how long it would take before someone noticed. Minister Goodon  immediately saw that his finger was pointing
at the black and white image in the
beaded flower…. his father.

Métis citizen to participate in the consultations.

It was important for me to capture as much as
I could in this painting and tell a story …
Her beautiful glow & personality, a slight
Mona Lisa smile loving life, pride she takes
of her home (placemat), wedding ring
honouring her late husband,
Metis beaded medallion … and … well, you’ll have to
look closely, the story doesn’t end there.

I had the opportunity to observe
Glorian Chartrand on many occasions. She has always shown her love and admiration for her husband, but there was one moment when I
got to see that Love & Pride beyond any words or painting I could possibly accomplish.

I hope this painting comes close to
what I saw that day.
